What is takoyaki?
Takoyaki is dumplings with pieces of octopus inside. These dumplings are cooked in a very particular cast-iron mold.
Where to find takoyaki?
In Japan, you will find them in konamon recipes, that is to say, made with wheat flour and not rice flour. This Osaka specialty is sold by 6, 10, or more, either in Yatai stalls as take-away or in traditional restaurants, which you can taste as a snack or as a side dish during meals.
In the Kansai region which includes Kyoto, Osaka, Hyôgo, Nara, Shiga, and Wakayama prefectures, it is served as a single dish. Be careful, this dish is to be eaten hot!
