What is NARUTO Kayou? Kayou Card Rarity Guide and How to Buy

NARUTO is a world-renowned anime and manga series that began its serialization in 1999. Due to its international popularity, various merchandise and cards have been developed globally. In recent years, “Kayou” cards have emerged as a significant new addition to the NARUTO card collecting scene. With a unique system different from Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh!, Kayou cards are rapidly gaining popularity among international collectors.
This article provides a detailed guide on what Kayou is, its rarity system, and how to purchase them, based on the latest 2025 information.
What is Kayou?
Kayou is a trading card brand based in China. It manufactures and sells cards for various popular IPs, including NARUTO, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and My Little Pony, under official licenses.
A major difference between Kayou cards and traditional TCGs is that they are “specifically designed for collection rather than competitive play.” There are no complex rules or competitive scenes; they are created purely for the enjoyment of collecting.
While Kayou has already established a massive market in China, it officially announced its U.S. expansion at New York Comic Con (NYCC 2025) in September 2025 and began sales in the North American market in October 2025.
Are Kayou Cards Officially Licensed?
Yes, Kayou cards are official products developed under license from the anime production company Pierrot. They are recognized worldwide as legitimate official cards, not counterfeits.
Note: However, unofficial counterfeit cards do exist in the market. Be sure to check the “How to Spot Fakes” section below before purchasing.
In addition to NARUTO, Kayou currently develops series for:
- Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba)
- Jujutsu Kaisen
- My Little Pony
- tokidoki

Highly Valuable Cards
SE (Special Edition) Cards
These are the highest rarity cards featuring panorama designs, found in Tier 4 and EX packs. Limited numbers and pull rates vary significantly by wave.
- T4W4: Limited to 777 copies per character.
- T4W5: Limited to 199, 699, or 999 copies (serial numbered).
- T4W6+: No serial numbers; extremely low pull rate (not officially disclosed).
SE cards from T4W4 and T4W5, especially popular characters with serial numbers, can reach high prices on the secondary market.

SP and MR Cards
Due to their low pull rates, cards featuring popular characters (e.g., Itachi Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake) tend to be highly valued.

Gaara SP

Sasuke MR
XR and QR (Ninja Age)
With serial numbers of only 720 or 72 copies, these are extremely rare. The 72-copy versions are especially difficult to find.
Differences Between Chinese and English Versions (Heaven Scroll)
Kayou’s NARUTO cards exist in both Chinese and English versions, with key differences.
1. Pull Rate Differences
The English version (Heaven Scroll) is designed based on T4W6 specifications. Compared to the Chinese version, the overall pull rates are set lower, often leading to higher prices on the secondary market for high-rarity cards.
2. Specifications Table
| Item | Heaven Scroll (Series 1) | Corresponding Chinese Ver. |
| :— | :— | :— |
| Cards per Pack | 8 cards | 10 cards |
| Packs per Box | 24 packs | 18 packs |
| Boxes per Carton | 8 boxes | — |
| Chinese Wave | Based on T4W6 | — |
| Exclusive PR | Konan PR (English Exclusive) | None |
Types of Kayou Card Boxes
| Tier | Pack Count | Features |
| Tier 1 | 36 Packs | Entry-level. Low pull rates; R cards have no holograms. |
| Tier 2 | 30 Packs | Each pack guarantees at least one SR or higher. |
| Tier 2.5 | 50 Packs | Includes CP cards. Also known as the Itachi Cloud Box. |
| Tier 3 | 20 Packs | Includes NR/TGR. Each pack contains one transparent TR/TGR. |
| Tier 4 | 18 Packs | Highest pull rates. Includes HR, BP, SE, and SLR. |
Note: As of 2024, Kayou is phasing out production of older waves. Currently available waves from official sources are limited (e.g., T2W7, T4W7, Ninja Age, The Last). Older waves are only available on the secondary market.
How to Spot Fakes
As popularity grows, counterfeits are increasing. Be cautious on platforms like eBay or certain AliExpress sellers.
- Authentication Sticker: New waves feature an official authentication sticker on the back of the card.
- Print Quality: Authentic cards have vivid colors and clear distinctions between sections. Fakes often have faded colors and uniform font sizes.
- Lamination Texture: Authentic cards have a unique tactile texture.
- Ask for High-Res Photos: Always request high-resolution photos before purchasing.
- Record Unboxing: Always film the unboxing process as evidence for potential disputes.
How to Buy
Since Kayou is a Chinese brand, the most common route is through AliExpress or Toys R Us China.
- AliExpress: Most popular, though shipping takes 2-5 weeks.
- North American Hobby Shops: Starting October 2025, specializing in Heaven Scroll and Earth Scroll.
- Japanese Card Shops / Mercari: Imported items, often a good source for older waves.
Buying Japan-Sourced Kayou Cards via Neokyo
While you can buy directly from AliExpress, Neokyo is highly effective if you are looking for rare older waves (T4W1-T4W5) that are no longer in production. Many of these older waves were heavily imported into Japan’s secondary market (Yahoo! Auctions, Mercari, Surugaya) and are often found in better condition.
Why Choose Neokyo?
- Access Major Japanese Markets: Search across Yahoo! Auctions, Mercari, Rakuten, and more.
- No Language Barrier: Neokyo handles all communication with Japanese sellers.
- Safe Consolidation: Receive items at our Japan warehouse, inspect them, and combine multiple orders to save on international shipping.
