The Dragon Ball Super Card Game comes in two games: Masters and Fusion World. The names and some of the rarity symbols overlap, so the two are easy to confuse. This article covers how they differ, how to tell the cards apart, examples of high-priced cards, and the search terms to use when looking in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Masters and Fusion World are separate, independent games with their own official sites, products, and card lists. We could not find any official statement that cards from both can be used in the same match. Super Dragon Ball Heroes is yet another card game, one that started in arcades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is not known whether a Japanese version of Masters is currently being released. It is safer not to assume you can buy it in Japan first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rarity reference by game<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The official sites do not show a rarity order (which rarity ranks above which). Here are the symbols that appear officially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GDR appeared as 1 card in B16, released on March 11, 2022, and recent sets include 2 to 3 each. A GDR with an older number such as BT7-131 is a reprint, so the number alone does not tell you when GDR versions started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fusion World<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fusion World has the 7 rarities in the table below. SPR and GDR are Masters symbols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Fusion World, price depends less on the symbol than on which version of a card you have. There are four official names:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Normal: Normal ver. in English, \u300c\u30ce\u30fc\u30de\u30eb\u7248\u300d in Japanese<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Alt-art: \u300c\u30d1\u30e9\u30ec\u30eb\u300d in Japanese<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Super Alt-art: \u300c\u30b9\u30fc\u30d1\u30fc\u30d1\u30e9\u30ec\u30eb\u300d in Japanese<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Visual Alt-Art: a version based on a famous scene. Still included in FB11<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Every version shares the same card number, so check which version an SCR is. Shop listings sometimes write the alt-art as \u300cSCR\u2606\u300d or \u300cSCR\u2605\u300d and the super alt-art as \u300cSCR\u2606\u2606\u300d or \u300cSCR\u2605\u2605\u300d. \u2606 and \u2605 are not official symbols and may mean different things at different shops, so confirm the version from the photos and the description.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. The start of the card number<\/strong>: most Masters numbers begin with BT, SD, or P, and most Fusion World numbers with FB, FS, or FP. There are exceptions such as ST, and other games use similar prefixes, so do not decide on the prefix alone. Check it against the product name, the card back, and the official card list as well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. The rarity symbol<\/strong>: SPR, GDR, SLR, and CR are Masters only, and L is Fusion World only. C, UC, R, SR, SCR, and PR exist in both, so the same symbol can appear on a card from either game.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Different versions under the same number<\/strong>: in Masters, one number can have an SCR version and a GDR version (BT16-147, for example). In Fusion World, the normal, alt-art, and super alt-art versions share a number. Look for GDR, \u2606, or \u30d1\u30e9\u30ec\u30eb in the listing title.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. What the symbol cannot settle<\/strong>: the number of \u2606 in Fusion World listings and “Parallel Foil” in Masters listings are shop wording. The reliable check is the photo: look at how the card shines and at differences in the artwork.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Examples of high-priced cards<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Here are listings that were on sale, to show how much the version changes the price under the same card number. Prices move daily and condition is self-reported by the seller, so treat these as rough guides. USD and JPY are shown as they appear on the listing pages, and the magi prices are the displayed amounts including the purchase fee and shipping. They are not a final total including Neokyo’s proxy buying fee or international shipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      These are shop listings in Japan, checked on magi on October 31, 2026. None are graded and none state the language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      For FB11-123, the normal and super alt-art versions are almost 60 times apart. In these listings at least, what costs a lot is not SCR itself but the alt-art and super alt-art versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Checked on October 31, 2026. The GDR listing is from CoreTCG (Pasadena, USA): English, Near Mint, ungraded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      For the same BT16-147, the GDR version runs to four figures in dollars at this one shop. The SCR version was sold out, so we cannot compare them or show where they rank across the market, but in Masters the big price divide is whether a card is the GDR version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      B31 has 178 cards in all. FB11 has 123 cards in all in both the Japanese and the English version, with an alt-art version of every Leader and every SR, and a super alt-art version of every SCR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Scheduled<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      B32 has 185 cards in all, and one box holds 20 packs (24 packs up to B31). Searching both the product code [DBS-B32] and card numbers in the form BT32-xxx means fewer listings slip past you. FB12 has 123 cards in all in both the Japanese and the English version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The gap between the Japanese and the English release differs by product: about 5 weeks for FB11 and 6 days for FB12. Do not assume the Japanese version always comes a month earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      How to search the Japanese market<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      The easiest thing to find in Japan is the Japanese version of Fusion World, and FB11 super alt-art cards and the like appear in listings right after release. Here are example search terms for Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions, and magi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
